Darius Griffin and Rob Wilson

Darius Griffin, Rutgers alumni, and player talks about his time at Rutgers and upset UCLA on December 3rd, 1981, at the Meadowlands. Rob Wilson Photography filmed and produced a documentary called “The  Era” to recognize the Rutgers Men’s 1981 basketball team.  Darius Griffin, the head coach of the Piscataway Boys Basketball team, stole the ball in the waning seconds of the game and passed it to Kevin Black to take the lead.

Even the most passionate fans forget or never knew of the dominance of Rutgers Men’s basketball from the mid-’70s through the mid-’80s. Bryce Nickels and Rob Wilson are determined to bring this Era of Rutgers basketball to light.

Rutgers Vs. UNC, Michael Jordan, James Worth, and Sam Perkins

“The Forgotten Era” is part 1 of a series of Rutgers basketball Rutgers basketball. Our next video featuring Darius Griffin will be about when Rutgers played against the University of North Carolina, when Michael Jordan, James Worthy, and Sam Perkins were playing. Although Rutgers lost the game, it still has a significant history. Jordan’s first televised game and the first game at Madison Square Garden, his favorite place to play. He once called MSG the mecca of basketball.

Darius Griffin – Rutgers Men’s Basketball

Darius Griffin is one of those who has his heart in the right place. His coaching style is simple; it’s all about the kids. If you have any other agenda, you can’t be a part of his program. Furthermore, he does a great job with his community outreach efforts for Piscataway Township. We were grateful for the opportunity to interview Coach Griffin.
