Portrait Photographers Are Back

Portrait photographers are back. From the beach to arboretums in New Jersey, families were ready to start to live their lives again after months of uncertainty and the lockdown. 2021 was a busy time for portrait photography. Beach sessions filled my calendar to the point where I had to turn many sessions away. It was a great feeling since, in 2020, there was hardly any business at all. The beaches were as busy as they had ever been, and it was nice to see everyone enjoying the beach again.

Corporate Photography is Thriving

The corporate photography part of my business also is back to normal. Many companies are back to business and are back in the office. Although many of the larger companies that hire me, like Merck and All-State, still aren’t allowing vendors inside their building, most mid-sized businesses are allowing vendors inside.

Corporate Videography

One of the benefits of being slow because of Covid-19 is that I learned new mediums. I added corporate videography to my business, which has been a lot of fun. 27 Years as a Professional Portrait Photographer

It’s been 27 years since I have been a professional portrait photographer. Through those years, there have been many ups and downs. There were many times where I had to reinvent myself. Film to digital, traditional to digital marketing, pricing, what to offer, and many other aspects of photography and running the business. However, that’s what I have always enjoyed about being a small business owner, the grind.

FAA Part 107 Drone Certified

Covid-19 also gave me more time to study for the FAA Part 107 drone license course. On September 11th, I passed the test and accepted commissioned jobs for drone photography and video. Without this certificate, nobody is allowed to take commercial work. Flying my drone has also become a fun hobby for me; now and again, I’ll find some tower to drone around to make a fun video.
