Multiple Generations
Most of the sessions that Rob captures are multiple generations. Often the grandparents, children, and
grandchildren are all together at a beach town such as Spring Lake and the families decide to have a family portrait taken. Photographing large groups is what separates Rob Wilson Photography from the others. Few photographers are seasoned enough to handle groups of fifteen to fifty people on the beach. There are a few reasons why it’s challenging to photograph large groups on the beach.
First and foremost, there are often many young children. It’s not uncommon to have five kids under four in a single beach portrait session. It takes an experienced photographer to be able to capture everyone in a large group looking their best. Furthermore, typically since the best time to photograph a family on the beach is one hour before sunset means there are only sixty minutes to get it right. It’s not just the large group that will be photographed, Rob will do every possible breakdown. Such as everyone together, each individual family, grandparents with the grandchildren, just the grandchildren, each couple, and so on. Rob will also include a photojournalistic approach during your portrait session.
